Westchester January 2012 Tournament

On January 21, 2012, eight Mohawk Valley Table Tennis Club players travelled through snow and slush to compete in the USATT three star sanctioned Westchester January 2012 tournament.

MWP student Meijun Cai won the Under 2100 event.

MVCC student Will Lombard won BOTH the Under 1700 and the Under 1500 event.

Making it to the finals requires great skill and endurance, winning an event demonstrates fighting spirit and strong mental discipline.

Other performances of note were:

  • Michael Haddad from New Hartford advancing to the semi-finals of the Under 1300 event.
  • Matt Cicchinelli from Clinton advancing to the semi-finals of the Under 1100 event.
  • Joseph Meyer from Utica reached the quarter-finals in U1100.
  • Sihai Chen from Clinton reached the quarter-finals in both the Under 1700 and the Over 40 years events.
  • Bruce Holck from Remsen reached the quarter-finals in the Over 60 years event.

You never know a table tennis player just by looking, ask and you might be talking to a champion!
